New Delhi, 27th Jan. On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron paid a visit to the Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah in south Delhi. He was invited as the 75th Republic Day celebrations’ chief guest.
Alongside him was External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar. Macron spent more than thirty minutes at the nearly seven centuries-old shrine on Friday, arriving at 9:45 p.m. Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya, a Sufi saint, is buried at Nizamuddin Dargah.
The video was posted on the microblogging platform by Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin’s official X handle, which stated, “French President Emmanuel Macron and Foreign Minister Mr. S. Jaishankar at Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia.”

Earlier, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu hosted a banquet in honor of her French colleague, Emmanuel Macron. Greeting Macron, Murmu stated that the leaders of the two nations being guests of honor in each other’s subsequent National Day parades and celebrations is a historic event and “a symbol of the depth of our friendship and the strength of our partnership.”
The French President addressed Indians on the 75th Republic Day, wishing them “long live the friendship between France and India.” He also conveyed his thankfulness for the special connection that endures beyond common ideals and time. After the G20 Summit in India was a huge success, Macron also mentioned that it had been five years since his previous state visit and expressed his satisfaction to be back in India.
“We are very happy to be returning here, five years after our last state visit and five months after your G20 was a great success. We were really privileged to be a part of this historic and significant day, and to have our warriors stand by you and share in this remarkable occasion,” the French President remarked, “I think this is for everyone in this delegation, in our memories forever.”
After the G20 Summit in India was a huge success, Macron also mentioned that it had been five years since his previous state visit and expressed his satisfaction to be back in India.At Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s request, French President Macron was the chief guest at the 75th Republic Day Parade on Friday. PM Modi and President Murmu greeted him warmly when he arrived at the Kartavya Path.
