Former MLC Veena Pandey Welcomes President’s Rule in Manipur, Calls It a Timely Decision

New Delhi, 14th Feb. Former BJP Mahila Morcha National Vice President and ex-Legislative Council member Dr. Veena Pandey has welcomed the decision to impose President’s Rule in Manipur, stating that it was long overdue but necessary. “Better late than never,” she remarked, calling the move a well-timed and appropriate step by the government.

Dr. Pandey highlighted the deep-rooted presence of insurgents in Manipur, saying that the people were living under constant fear. “Those who resist are not only killed but their homes are burnt down. Heinous crimes against women were committed openly, and nationalists faced immense difficulties in carrying out their duties,” she said.

She further alleged that peaceful citizens in Manipur were being exploited, while drug cartels had a stronghold in the state. “Some groups openly talk about separating from India, and the Congress party has been supporting such elements,” she claimed.

According to her, honest academicians, officials, employees, and businessmen faced extortion in the form of ‘Jizya’ tax, while students were not allowed to study freely. She praised the central government’s decision, calling it a positive step for Manipur’s future. “This move will curb terrorism and strengthen nationalist sentiments,” she added.

Dr. Pandey extended her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for taking this decisive action.
