Former BJP MLA Vijay Jolly Accuses AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya of Watercooler Scam

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 2nd Dec. Serious corruption allegations have surfaced against Sangam Vihar AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya. Former BJP MLA Dr. Vijay Jolly has accused Mohaniya of embezzling public funds in collusion with officials from the Irrigation and Flood Control Department of the Delhi Government.

According to details obtained from Tender ID: 2023_IFC_242489_01 and RTI ID: 02/I&FC/MD-IV/2024, a contract was issued in 2023 for the supply, installation, and commissioning of 100 water coolers with RO+UV systems in the Sangam Vihar constituency (AC-49). Out of this, ₹36.62 lakh was reportedly disbursed for the installation of 60 water coolers. However, investigations revealed discrepancies, with claims of 38 units installed in an MCD school and Mohaniya’s office proving false.

Dr. Jolly alleged that the cost per unit, ₹61,041.75, was significantly inflated compared to the market price. He termed this a clear case of corruption involving the Aam Aadmi Party government and its MLA.

Further allegations highlight misuse of MLA funds under the ₹15 crore MLALAD scheme, with seven water coolers purportedly installed in the Delhi Jal Board office of Ambedkar Nagar, outside the Sangam Vihar constituency.

Dr. Jolly has called for an Anti-Corruption Branch investigation, urging Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor to register an FIR and take legal action against Mohaniya for fraud and misappropriation of funds.

The allegations have stirred political controversy, with demands for accountability and transparency in the use of public money. AAP is yet to respond to the accusations.
