New Delhi, 24th June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday shared an article underscoring the significant transformation witnessed in India’s food processing sector over the years. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister praised Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Shri Chirag Paswan, for drawing attention to the sector’s evolution and growing contribution to rural empowerment.

“Union Minister Shri @iChiragPaswan highlights the remarkable transformation of India’s food processing sector over the years with a dynamic approach that has empowered rural entrepreneurs. Glance through an insightful read!” PM Modi wrote.

The article, originally posted by Minister Paswan, sheds light on how government initiatives, infrastructural development, and policy reforms have spurred growth in the food processing sector—transforming it into a key driver of rural employment and agricultural value addition.

The sector, which contributes significantly to India’s economy, has seen notable developments including the creation of mega food parks, cold chain infrastructure, and increased participation from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). It has not only reduced post-harvest losses but also created new income opportunities for farmers and agri-preneurs across the country.
