New Delhi, 3rd Dec: A massive multi-layered security grid has been activated in Delhi ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s arrival for the India–Russia Annual Summit at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Putin is expected to land in the capital on Thursday evening, following which he will have dinner with the Prime Minister.

A ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan is scheduled the next morning, followed by visits to Raj Ghat, Hyderabad House for the summit, Bharat Mandapam, and a state banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu. With a tightly packed itinerary, Delhi has been turned into a high-security zone.

According to sources, over 40 highly trained personnel from Russia’s Presidential Security Service have already arrived in Delhi. They are coordinating closely with the National Security Guard (NSG), Special Protection Group (SPG), and Delhi Police to sanitise all routes and venues.

A five-layer protection ring has been planned. The outer layers comprise NSG and Delhi Police units, while the innermost cordon will be handled by Russia’s elite security team. When Putin accompanies Prime Minister Modi, SPG commandos will integrate into the inner ring.

Advanced surveillance measures form the backbone of the security apparatus. Specialised drones will track the President’s movement in real time, supported by a dedicated control room. Snipers have been positioned along key routes, and facial-recognition cameras, AI-based monitoring tools and signal jammers are being deployed extensively.

The hotel designated for Putin’s stay has been fully sanitised, with Russian security forces running multiple checks. Backup locations, including potential unscheduled stops, are also being scanned as part of a contingency plan.

A signature highlight of the visit will be the Russian President’s Aurus Senat limousine—an armoured “fortress on wheels”—which has been flown in from Moscow. Putin previously used the Senat during a joint ride with Prime Minister Modi at the SCO Summit earlier this year.

The city remains on heightened alert as the high-profile visit is set to strengthen India–Russia strategic ties amid a robust security shield.
