New Delhi, 18th Oct: A major fire broke out at the Brahmaputra Apartments on Bishambhar Das Marg in Delhi — a residential complex allotted to Rajya Sabha MPs — on Saturday afternoon. Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the building before the blaze was brought under control by fire officials.

According to the Delhi Fire Service, a call was received at 1:20 pm, and six fire engines were immediately dispatched to the spot. The fire was doused after several hours of operation. No casualties have been reported so far, though the exact cause of the fire remains unknown.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the fire safety system in the complex was not functional at the time of the incident. “We checked the fire hydrant after spotting the flames, but there was no water in the tank or the pipelines,” a resident said.

Visuals from the scene showed structural damage to the lower two floors of the apartment complex. Authorities are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident and assessing the extent of the damage.
