Fire at Delhi Hospital Leaves One Dead

New Delhi, 9th Aug: A tragic fire broke out at Kosmos Superspeciality Hospital in east Delhi’s Anand Vihar on Saturday afternoon, leaving one person dead and at least 10 injured. Delhi Fire Service officials reported that the blaze, which started in a ground-floor server room, was brought under control after eight fire tenders were rushed to the scene.
According to police, a 28-year-old housekeeping staff member, identified as Amit, died from smoke inhalation. Officials stated that he had initially tried to escape to the rooftop but later locked himself inside a bathroom on the third floor, where he became trapped.
While Amit was declared dead upon arrival at the nearby Pushpanjali Hospital, eight patients and two other staff members were successfully evacuated and are reported to be stable. The fire service officials noted that a major tragedy was averted by the swift rescue of the patients.
The fire department received a call about the blaze at 12:12 pm. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and a detailed investigation has been initiated to determine any lapses in fire safety compliance at the hospital. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
