Bhadohi, 11th April. An FIR has been filed against a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi district for abusing and threatening to kill BJP MLA Dinanath Bhaskar, police said on Monday.
Dilip Dubey, a Mahdepur Kairmau resident, had previously been charged under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for using abusive language against Dalit MLA Bhaskar.
On Sunday, Dubey called the MLA from the Aurai constituency and pressed him to have the section about Dalit harassment removed from the earlier case. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Anil Kumar, he used abusive language and threatened the MLA.
Following the MLA’s complaint, a new case was filed against Dubey at the Aurai police station under relevant sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Indian Penal Code.
According to the SP, police teams have been dispatched to arrest the accused.
The police have released an audio recording of the young man abusing the MLA and threatening to kill him.
Three months ago, Dubey had called senior BJP leader Rishi Shukla and used abusive language against MLA Bhaskar, following which Shukla filed a complaint. The police filed a charge sheet in the first case, the SP said.
