Vidisha, 7th Oct: Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, today visited his parliamentary constituency of Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, and participated in a programme at the Bilkisganj agricultural produce market. During the event, he interacted with farmers and women beneficiaries, distributed welfare benefits under various central schemes, and inspected exhibitions and a health camp organised by local organisations.

Speaking at the event, Chouhan emphasized service to society, stating, “Everyone lives for themselves, but a true life is lived in the service of the people, society, and the nation. We will leave no stone unturned in serving our people.” Addressing women attending the health camp, he urged them to undergo full medical check-ups and assured free treatment for any detected illness.

Highlighting women-centric initiatives, Shri Chouhan described the ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’ as transformative for women’s lives and the ‘Lakhpati Didi Abhiyan’ as a key programme to increase rural women’s income. “The Prime Minister has entrusted me with the responsibility of Rural Development. Our goal is to ensure every sister earns at least ₹1 lakh annually through self-help groups. The central government is committed to empowering women economically,” he said.

Chouhan also shared updates on housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin, noting that Madhya Pradesh has received 19 lakh houses so far. “Those not earlier included are being surveyed and added. No poor person will remain in a kutcha house. Electricity will reach even the remotest areas, ensuring every family has a pucca house, electricity, and a dignified life,” he added.

Addressing crop-related concerns, he said, “Some farmers have reported heavy losses to soybean crops due to excessive rainfall. The government will conduct thorough surveys and provide compensation under the crop insurance scheme. Farmers will not be allowed to suffer losses, and every eligible farmer will receive timely benefits.”

Chouhan reiterated his commitment to make Sehore district completely TB-free, stating that free medicines and nutritional support are being provided to all TB patients. “So far, 500 patients, including 90 pregnant women, have been screened. The success of this campaign depends on collective efforts, and together we will make Sehore district TB-free,” he said.
