Hyderabad, 21st Feb.
An executive engineer associated with Telangana’s Tribal Welfare Engineering department was apprehended on Monday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 84,000, as confirmed by police authorities.

The arrest was made following a complaint lodged with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), wherein an individual accused K Jaga Jyothi of soliciting a bribe in exchange for a favorable official decision. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the ACB conducted a meticulously planned operation and caught the official red-handed while accepting the specified bribe amount.

A viral video circulating on social media shows K Jaga Jyothi in tears after being caught in the act.

Additionally, as part of the investigation, K Jaga Jyothi underwent a phenolphthalein test, which confirmed the presence of the chemical compound on her right-hand fingers. Phenolphthalein, when activated, turns pink upon contact with a mild base, facilitating the identification of individuals handling marked bills or documents.

The ACB has accused K Jaga Jyothi of acting inappropriately and dishonestly in the discharge of official duties, with the intention of gaining an unfair advantage.

Following the arrest, the bribe amount of Rs 84,000 was recovered from the possession of the executive engineer. Currently in custody, K Jaga Jyothi is scheduled to be presented before a court in Hyderabad to face legal proceedings.
