EPFO Extends Deadline for Uploading Wage Details for Higher Pension Options Till May 31

New Delhi, 4th Jan. The deadline for employers to upload wage details of employees who have opted for higher pension has been extended by the retirement fund manager EPFO. The new deadline is May 31, 2024.

Previously, the deadline was December 31, 2023.

EPFO had introduced an online facility for subscribers to submit applications for validation of the higher pension option. This option was made available to eligible pensioners and EPFO members in compliance with a Supreme Court order.

The online application facility was launched on February 26, 2023, with an initial deadline of May 3, 2023. However, the deadline was extended to June 26, 2023, and then to July 11, 2023, to accommodate the applicants.

As of July 11, 2023, 17.49 lakh applications had been received. Employers and employers’ associations requested an extension to submit wage details of the applicants, and the deadline was extended to September 30, 2023, and then to December 31, 2023.

Currently, there are still over 3.6 lakh pending applications for processing. To ensure that employers process these applications, the Chairman of EPFO has approved another extension until May 31, 2024, for employers to upload wage details online.
