Udgir, 4th Sept. President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday addressed a gathering of beneficiaries of the ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ and ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojna’ initiatives of the Government of Maharashtra in Udgir.
In her speech, the President highlighted the significance of these programs as crucial steps towards fostering an inclusive and prosperous society.
She expressed her satisfaction that women in Maharashtra are becoming self-reliant through the support of central and state government schemes. The President praised the Maharashtra government for its efforts in providing financial literacy, skill development, and livelihood opportunities to women.
She also commended the government’s commitment to delivering transparent and accountable governance by ensuring that essential services reach citizens at their doorsteps, eliminating the need for them to visit government offices.
President Murmu emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, noting that it brings her immense satisfaction. She remarked that women often demonstrate a greater sense of responsibility in managing family resources for the common good.
She reiterated the adage that educating a woman equates to educating an entire family and future generations. Similarly, economically empowering women has a ripple effect on the entire family and society.
The President was pleased to note the success of the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Scheme of the Government of India, which has enabled around one crore women across the country to achieve financial independence.
She acknowledged the initiative’s role in boosting self-confidence, awareness, and a new sense of consciousness among women.
Furthermore, the President lauded Maharashtra’s efforts to ensure the health and nutrition of women. She urged women to prioritize their health, noting that they often focus on the well-being of their families while neglecting their own needs. She advised them to take care of their health for a better future for themselves and their families.
The President also noted the significant increase in women’s participation in the workforce in recent years. She encouraged further efforts to enhance women’s involvement in all fields and called on men to support women in realizing their dreams. She warned that any hindrance to women’s progress also slows down the overall development of society and the nation.
Earlier in the day, President Murmu inaugurated a Buddha Vihar with a Meditation Centre at Udgir and paid tribute to the statue of Bhagwan Buddha.
