Chandigarh— President Droupadi Murmu graced the convocation ceremony of Panjab University on Wednesday, commending the institution’s 140-year legacy of excellence in academics, sports, research, and culture.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu lauded the university’s achievements, including its 17-time triumph in securing the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy, a testament to the athletes’ dedication. She highlighted the accomplishments of students Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh, who brought pride to the nation with their medal wins at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The President praised Panjab University’s efforts in fostering academia-industry linkages and urged policymakers to strengthen these ties, emphasizing the need for application-based education to prepare students for future challenges. She underscored the importance of cultivating a positive mindset and acquiring advanced skills to navigate an increasingly competitive world, stressing that knowledge of emerging technologies would be key to success.
