Eknath Shinde Claims Uddhav Thackeray Treated Party Members Like House-Helps

Nagpur, 8th April.
Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra who rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray in June 2022, accused the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra of treating party members as house-helps. Shinde now leads the faction recognized by the Election Commission as the real Shiv Sena after the split and rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray.

Shinde mentioned that while Balasaheb Thackeray, Uddhav’s father and the founder of Sena, considered them friends, Uddhav viewed them as house-helps.

Shinde explained that he rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray due to concerns about compromising the party’s ideology, particularly Uddhav’s decision to form an alliance with the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) which did not align with Sena’s ideology.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition was formed after the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections when Uddhav severed ties with the BJP and allied with the Congress-NCP. However, the MVA government collapsed in June 2022 when Shinde rebelled and joined hands with the BJP to become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

In July 2023, the ruling alliance was further strengthened when Ajit Pawar and his faction in the NCP joined forces with the real Sena and BJP after Ajit’s revolt against his uncle Sharad Pawar. The Election Commission later declared Ajit’s group as the real NCP.

During a meeting in Nagpur, Shinde called on people to support the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to secure a third consecutive term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He mentioned that seat-sharing details within the ruling alliance would be finalized within two to three days.
