Efforts Underway to Restore Peace and Normalcy in Manipur, says Governor Uikey

Senior politician and former MLAs O. Joy Singh, R.K. Anand Singh, E. Chand Singh, and P. Sharatchandra Singh met with Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uike ji at Raj Bhavan.

They requested the initiation of a peace process to restore peace and normalcy in the state.

They submitted a memorandum to the Governor, urging her to put an end to all forms of violence.

They expressed their appreciation for the Governor’s efforts in restoring peace and normalcy in the state. They expressed confidence that the Governor would initiate a dialogue process between the communities to find a permanent solution to the ongoing conflict.

The politicians also requested the Governor to urge the Prime Minister to take steps towards peace in the upcoming new year. They asked for the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) with 1951 as the base year, a review of the suspension-of-operation agreement with Chin-Kuki armed groups, the assurance of free and safe movement on national highways, and the conduct of elections.

The Governor informed them that the Central Government is actively considering the issues faced by Manipur and engaging in discussions with various organizations, including civil society leaders.

She mentioned that suggestions received from the public have been forwarded to the Centre.

She assured the team that she is in contact with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.

The Governor promised to present their suggestions to the Prime Minister during her meeting with him in New Delhi.

She encouraged the team to continue their efforts in the best interest of the people of Manipur to restore peace and normalcy.
