New Delhi, 6th Feb: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with students during the ninth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026, urging them to view exams as opportunities for self-growth rather than sources of stress.
In an informal interaction with students at his residence, the Prime Minister advised them to listen to everyone’s advice but change their study patterns only when they themselves feel the need.
“Listen to everyone’s advice, but change your pattern only when you want to,” he told students, emphasizing that each individual has a unique learning style.
Focus on balance and self-confidence
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of maintaining balance in life, saying students must manage studies, skills, rest and hobbies together.
“Books impart knowledge, but only practice makes you professionally skilled,” he said, adding that education and skills are like twin siblings and both are essential for success.
He advised students not to obsess over marks and instead focus on holistic development. “Education is not only for exams but for life. Exams are meant to examine oneself,” he said.
Calling exams “like festivals,” the Prime Minister encouraged students to celebrate them rather than fear them.
Teachers, parents and study methods
Addressing concerns about conflicting advice from parents and teachers, the Prime Minister said students should trust their own rhythm while remaining open to improvements.
He also advised teachers to inform students in advance about upcoming lessons to spark curiosity and improve understanding.
“Plough the mind, then connect the mind, and then place the subjects of study. This will help you succeed,” he remarked.
To parents, he suggested allowing children to grow according to their abilities and interests rather than imposing expectations.
Dreams, skills and technology
Encouraging students to dream big, the Prime Minister said, “Not having a dream is a crime. Have a dream always.”
He advised students to read biographies of great personalities to build confidence and direction in life.
Highlighting the role of technology, he said Artificial Intelligence should be used to enhance wisdom, not merely for shortcuts. “Technology is a great teacher. Embrace it. AI increases our capabilities,” he said.
He urged students to use AI tools to discover books, ideas and skills that match their interests.
Cleanliness, discipline and national vision
The Prime Minister also spoke about personal discipline, cleanliness and the need to adopt indigenous products as part of building a developed India by 2047.
He asked students to identify foreign-made items they use daily and gradually replace them with Indian alternatives.
The interaction concluded with cultural performances, poetry and musical presentations by students, as the Prime Minister encouraged them to share their talents and pursue their interests confidently.
