Thiruvananthapuram, 18th July. In connection with its investigation into alleged violations in the financial dealings of KIIFB while he was the Kerala Finance Minister in the previous LDF government, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has served notice to senior CPI(M) leader Thomas Isaac asking his appearance before it, official sources said on Sunday.
According to sources, Isaac has been summoned to appear before the investigation team on Tuesday.
Isaac stated that he has received no such notices from the ED.
“Even if I get something like it, I am not going to appear because I have more important things to do. They (ED) will have to arrest me”, Isaac said.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman criticised the functioning of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) during the state assembly elections last year, stating that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) had criticised its financial transactions.
She had also called KIIFB’s operation “questionable.”
Sitharaman has also questioned the KIIFB’s role in the formulation of the Kerala budget.
“I don’t know what budget making is this when all the money is given to one KIIFB. What is this organisation? We also make a budget for the Union government. We don’t give all money to one particular agency and say, ‘We’ll see’,” Sitharaman had stated during her party’s public meeting in Kochi last year.
