New Delhi, 11th Dec: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday issued a revised schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in six States and Union Territories, extending the enumeration deadlines and shifting the publication dates of draft rolls. The revisions come in response to requests from the Chief Electoral Officers of the respective States and UTs.
Under the new schedule, the enumeration period and draft roll publication dates have been updated as follows:
- Tamil Nadu: Enumeration by 14 December; Draft Roll on 19 December
- Gujarat: Enumeration by 14 December; Draft Roll on 19 December
- Madhya Pradesh: Enumeration by 18 December; Draft Roll on 23 December
- Chhattisgarh: Enumeration by 18 December; Draft Roll on 23 December
- Andaman & Nicobar Islands: Enumeration by 18 December; Draft Roll on 23 December
- Uttar Pradesh: Enumeration by 26 December; Draft Roll on 31 December
Earlier, the enumeration period for these States and UTs was scheduled to end on 11 December, with draft rolls to be published on 16 December.
The Commission confirmed that the enumeration period for Goa, Gujarat, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan and West Bengal — unaffected by the latest revision — will end today, 11 December, with draft rolls scheduled for publication on 16 December.
Separately, the schedule for Kerala had already been revised, with enumeration continuing until 18 December and draft rolls set for publication on 23 December.
The ECI emphasised that the revision exercise aims to ensure every eligible citizen is included in the updated electoral rolls. New voters have been encouraged to submit Form 6 along with the required declaration to their Booth Level Officers or complete the process online via the ECINet App or the portal voters.eci.gov.in. The final electoral rolls will be published in February 2026.
The Commission reiterated that the updated schedule is intended to facilitate wider participation and prevent exclusion of eligible electors ahead of the next electoral cycle.
