New Delhi, 15th Oct: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued stringent directions to enforcement agencies to curb the use of money power, liquor, drugs, and freebies in the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections and bypolls in eight constituencies.

In its directive, the ECI instructed multiple agencies—including State Police, Excise, Income Tax, RBI, FIU-IND, DRI, Customs, ED, and NCB—to intensify surveillance and ensure a fair electoral process. Expenditure Observers have been deployed to monitor candidate spending and have begun field visits to coordinate with local monitoring teams.

According to the ECI, Flying Squads, Surveillance Teams, and Video Surveillance Teams will maintain round-the-clock vigilance to detect any illicit inducements. The Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) has been activated to record seizures in real time.

Since the election announcement on October 6, enforcement agencies have seized cash, liquor, drugs, and freebies worth ₹33.97 crore. The Commission emphasized that enforcement operations should not inconvenience ordinary citizens and encouraged the public to report violations through the C-Vigil App.
