GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 29th Oct: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the activation of the National Voter Helpline — 1950 — and the launch of the ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ facility to streamline voter assistance and grievance redressal across the country.

The National Contact Centre (NCC) will function as the central helpline for all States and Union Territories, operating daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM through the toll-free number 1800-11-1950. Trained executives will provide citizens and stakeholders with comprehensive electoral services and assistance.

In a directive to all States and Union Territories, the ECI has instructed the establishment of State Contact Centres (SCCs) and District Contact Centres (DCCs) to ensure timely, localized responses in regional languages. These centres will function during office hours on all working days throughout the year.

All complaints and queries received through the helpline will be recorded and tracked via the National Grievance Service Portal (NGSP 2.0) for transparency and accountability.

Additionally, the newly launched ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ feature on the ECINET platform enables voters to directly contact their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for assistance. Citizens can also connect with election officials through the ECINET App.

The Commission has directed Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Election Officers (DEOs), and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to monitor complaint redressal and ensure resolution within 48 hours.

These facilities complement existing grievance mechanisms, including the email service at complaints@eci.gov.in. The ECI has urged citizens to make full use of the 1950 Helpline and ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ feature for all election-related information, suggestions, and complaints, ensuring prompt and transparent redressal.
