New Delhi, 25th Aug: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has embarked on a new initiative to strengthen the electoral process by conducting extensive, structured interactions with national and state political parties. This proactive approach, a departure from the previous method of engaging only upon request, was envisioned by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.

Over the past six months, the ECI has conducted 4,719 structured meetings at various levels across the country. These interactions, involving Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Election Officers (DEOs), and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), have engaged more than 28,000 representatives from diverse political parties.

The Commission has also held high-level meetings with the heads or authorized representatives of all six recognized national parties and 17 recognized state political parties. These sessions provide a direct platform for party leaders to share their suggestions and concerns with the Commission, fostering constructive dialogue.

This initiative is part of the ECI’s broader vision to enhance the electoral framework with the cooperation of all stakeholders, aiming for a more transparent and inclusive system.
