New Delhi, 22nd Oct: The Election Commission of India (ECI) inaugurated a two-day Conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) today at the India International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Management (IIIDEM) in New Delhi.

Presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, and in the presence of Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, the conference focused on assessing the preparedness of CEO offices across all States and Union Territories for the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

The conference follows up on the SIR preparedness meeting held on September 10, 2025, during which States and UTs presented detailed data on the number of electors, the qualifying date of the last SIR, and the Electoral Rolls based on the previous revision.

During the meeting, the Commission evaluated the progress made by CEOs in mapping current electors against the last SIR and reviewed the appointment and training status of District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and Booth Level Assistants (BLAs).

The conference aims to ensure that all States and UTs are fully prepared for the SIR exercise, reinforcing electoral integrity and accuracy ahead of upcoming elections.
