New Delhi, 31st July: The Election Commission of India (EC) announced on Thursday that it has finalized the Electoral College for the upcoming Vice Presidential election, necessitated by the recent resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar from the post.

The Vice President of India is elected by an Electoral College comprising all elected and nominated members of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House of Parliament) and the elected members of the Lok Sabha (Lower House). In a statement, the poll authority confirmed the completion of this crucial list for the Vice Presidential Election, 2025.

The Electoral College list will be made available for purchase at a designated counter within the Election Commission office from the date of the official election notification, which the poll body indicated is likely to be announced soon.

Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as Vice President on July 21, 2025, a little over two years before his scheduled five-year tenure was due to end on August 10, 2027. His sudden departure has triggered the need for an early election to fill the vacant constitutional position.
