DRI Seizes ₹40 Cr Cocaine at Bengaluru Airport

Bengaluru, 19th July: In a huge bust, officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Bengaluru Zonal Unit intercepted an Indian male passenger at Kempegowda International Airport in the early hours of July 18, seizing over 4 kilograms of cocaine with an international market value estimated at ₹40 crore.
Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officers intercepted the passenger who had arrived from Doha. A careful examination of his baggage revealed two superhero comics/magazines that were unusually heavy. Upon closer inspection, officers discovered white powder meticulously concealed within the covers of these magazines.
The recovered substance tested positive for cocaine. The total quantity of the seized narcotic weighed 4,006 grams (over 4 kg). The cocaine was seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The passenger was subsequently arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985, and remanded to judicial custody on July 18, 2025. This seizure highlights the sophisticated methods employed by drug traffickers and the continuous vigilance of Indian law enforcement agencies.
