New Delhi, 15th Dec: Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh on Sunday held a virtual coordination meeting with Deputy Commissioners and Members of Legislative Assembly from the Udhampur–Kathua–Doda Lok Sabha constituency to review preparations for the culmination of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav, scheduled for December 25, 2025.

The meeting focused on ensuring seamless coordination across districts and Assembly segments for the successful conduct of the concluding event, which will be addressed virtually by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The culmination will be organised simultaneously across Assembly segments with active participation of District Administrations, MLAs and Members of Parliament.

Dr Jitendra Singh said the Sansad Khel Mahotsav, which began on August 25, 2025, has been conceived as a pan-India initiative to celebrate grassroots sporting talent and promote a fit, healthy and sports-oriented India in line with the Fit India Movement. He underlined that the December 25 event would mark the successful conclusion of the nationwide programme.

The Minister directed all districts to remain fully prepared for different execution models, including district-level and constituency-level formats, depending on final directions. He stressed the need to identify suitable venues with reliable connectivity and adequate infrastructure, keeping in view the Prime Minister’s virtual address.

Highlighting the long-term vision of the initiative, Dr Jitendra Singh said the Sansad Khel Mahotsav is not a one-time event but a sustained effort to build a robust sports ecosystem across the country. He instructed officials to ensure timely uploading of details of winners from Panchayat to district and higher levels on designated portals, enabling identification and support of promising athletes for advanced training and exposure.

The Minister also noted that December 25 coincides with Good Governance Day (Sushasan Diwas) and the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, providing an opportunity to integrate themes of governance, youth empowerment and nation-building into the programme.

Officials informed the meeting that the culmination events would see participation from local youth, sportspersons, community representatives and eminent personalities from the sports sector. The programmes will be organised under the broader “MY Bharat” framework with support from the Ministries of Youth Affairs and Sports, Culture and Education, along with District Administrations.

Dr Jitendra Singh called upon all stakeholders to work in close coordination to make the Sansad Khel Mahotsav culmination a model national event, reflecting the government’s commitment to promoting sports culture, nurturing young talent and strengthening the Fit India Movement. He said detailed guidelines would be issued shortly and emphasised that timely preparedness at all levels would be key to the programme’s success.
