Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, laid the foundation stone for a road project connecting Ramnagar to Ramwail in Udhampur district.

He mentioned that this crucial connectivity project, with a budget of 2.96 crore rupees, had been stuck in legal disputes for a long time. However, through his personal efforts, the litigation was resolved and the foundation stone for the road was laid.

The Minister highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, road connectivity has been extended to the most remote areas of Udhampur.

He recalled that the PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) was initiated by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, but in the 15 years until 2014, only about 3.7 lakh kilometers of PMGSY roads were constructed in the country. In contrast, in the last nine and a half years under Prime Minister Modi, the total length has doubled to over 8 lakh kilometers.

Dr Jitendra Singh mentioned that Udhampur has been among the top three districts in terms of PMGSY road projects in the country.

The Minister expressed his disappointment that this region had not received adequate attention from previous governments. However, Prime Minister Modi has committed to developing all regions equally and bringing them on par with developed areas.

Dr Singh stated that under Modi’s leadership, the government has been able to provide previously unimaginable facilities to remote areas.

Dr Jitendra Singh also informed that his constituency is the only one to have received two Vande Bharat Express trains, three centrally-funded medical colleges, and various other centrally-funded projects, including the Devika River Rejuvenation project, the Katra-Delhi Express road corridor, North India’s first Industrial Biotech Park, and the national-level Shahpur Kandi Irrigation project.
