New Delhi, 19th Feb. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the role of innovation and technology during an event held in New Delhi on Sunday.
Highlighting that innovation extends beyond the realm of scientists, Dr. Jitendra Singh stressed that anyone can foster innovation with a change in mindset and approach.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, who holds multiple portfolios including Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, and the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), along with responsibilities in Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, made these remarks while formally launching the Monograph on Innovations in Public Administration compiled by the Capacity Building Commission (CBC).
He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to ‘Ease the Living’ of citizens through innovation and the institutionalization of innovative practices in technological development.
According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, innovation not only enhances ease of living but also brings about social change and multiple benefits to society as a whole.
Drawing inspiration from the Prime Minister’s words, he underscored the importance of technology in reaching the poorest of the poor, marginalized communities, and women in remote areas for governance and justice delivery.
Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the pivotal role of digital innovation in transforming India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy in the next decade.
He directed the Capacity Building Commission to publicize innovations in public administration through films and videos, leveraging social media platforms for wider outreach.
Acknowledging the contributions of civil servants in pioneering innovation through technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh suggested the utilization of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics to drive further innovation.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of CBC, Shri Adil Zainulbhai, highlighted the monograph’s aim to create a comprehensive database of case studies for civil servants across India to access and draw inspiration from.
Praveen Pardeshi, Member of CBC, showcased case studies such as onboarding local communities in Jammu and Kashmir onto the Government E-Marketplace (GeM) portal and promoting mushroom cultivation in Assam under the ‘One District One Product’ initiative.
Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, another Member of CBC, disclosed that the Commission received 243 innovations from 25 states across 13 thematic areas, with 15 innovations selected for inclusion in the monograph following a rigorous selection process.
