Chennai, 7th March.
TKS Elangovan, the spokesperson for Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has called upon the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to clarify the concept of Sanatana Dharma, following the Madras High Court’s decision to dispose of a quo warranto petition against Tamil Nadu ministers, including Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Addressing the media, Elangovan emphasized the need for the BJP to elucidate the meaning of Sanatana Dharma, as he expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of a clear explanation on the matter.

“The court has ruled against issuing a quo warranto against the Tamil Nadu ministers. It is inappropriate for them to speak in such a manner. However, our understanding is that Sanatana Dharma refers to Manu Dharma. If they deny this interpretation, then we have no objections,” stated the DMK leader.

The Madras High Court’s decision came in response to quo warranto pleas filed by office bearers of the Hindu Munnani Organisation, which sought the removal of Udhayanidhi Stalin, PK Sekar Babu, and DMK MP A Raja from their ministerial positions over remarks related to Sanatana Dharma.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court had questioned Udhayanidhi Stalin over his comments advocating for the eradication of Sanatana Dharma, expressing disappointment at his remarks and reminding him of his responsibilities as a minister.

Stalin had faced criticism for comparing Sanatana Dharma to diseases like malaria and dengue, citing its historical association with caste-based discrimination.

Furthermore, Minister Sekar Babu and DMK MP A Raja came under scrutiny for their involvement in events related to Sanatana Dharma, prompting controversy and debate over religious ideologies and political responsibilities.
