DM Noida Vows Prompt Resolution of Journalists’ Issues
District Level Standing Committee Meets to Address Media Concerns, Ensure Press Dignity

Noida, 19th July: District Magistrate (DM) Manish Kumar Verma, known for his sensitivity towards journalists, has stated that media personnel are responsible citizens who strengthen the fourth pillar of democracy. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the district administration to promptly address the problems faced by journalists.
DM Verma’s remarks came during a district-level permanent committee meeting held on Wednesday in his office chamber, aimed at resolving the issues and demands of journalists in the district. The meeting was attended by officials from the police department and the information department, along with members of the district-level permanent committee.
Key Issues Discussed and DM’s Directives
During the meeting, various issues raised by journalists were discussed. These included:
- Holding monthly meetings of the district-level permanent committee.
- Providing free parking facilities for media personnel at all three district authorities.
- Designating a competent police officer to assist journalists.
- Issuing Ayushman cards for remaining accredited journalists.
DM Verma directed the concerned officials to ensure swift and sensitive resolution of journalists’ problems. He reiterated that the media is the fourth pillar of democracy, and it is the administration’s duty to uphold its dignity.
He instructed the police department to avoid any negligence in providing security to journalists. In line with orders issued by the Director General of Police, a competent officer from the police department is to be designated to facilitate media personnel in the district. ADCP R.K. Gautam, present at the meeting, assured that the police department would soon nominate such an officer.
The information department was asked to establish coordination with journalists and ensure regular dialogue. Furthermore, the DM directed that presidents of press clubs or their nominated members, along with bureau chiefs of reputable newspapers/news channels in the district or their nominated members, should be systematically invited as special invitees to future district-level permanent committee meetings.
In response to the journalists’ demand, DM Verma also stated that a letter would be sent to the chief executive officers of all three authorities regarding the provision of free parking for media personnel.
