New Delhi, 20th Dec. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday voiced serious concern over the repeated disruptions in parliamentary proceedings, urging members to honor their duty to the public and uphold democratic values.

Addressing the Upper House during a disrupted session, Dhankhar emphasized the global attention on India’s democracy and the need for parliamentarians to act responsibly.

“Our fundamental duty to serve with diligence lies neglected,” the Chairman remarked, adding that the current state of chaos undermines public trust and expectations. He called on members, across party lines, to reflect on their conduct, stating, “These hallowed chambers deserve conduct that honors our oath, not theatrics that betray it.”

Dhankhar’s impassioned appeal comes at a time when frequent disruptions have stalled meaningful debate and decision-making. He urged both lawmakers and citizens to introspect and foster accountability, ensuring that Parliament functions effectively to serve the nation’s interests.
