Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurates NSTI Campus Agartala, Girl’s Hostel in Vadodara Bolstering Women’s Empowerment

Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday virtually inaugurated the National Skill Training Institute for Women in Agartala and a girls’ hostel in Vadodara, Gujarat.

These inaugurations signify a significant step towards fostering Nari Shakti and cultivating a supportive environment for female trainees engaged in skill development initiatives.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik; Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha; Minister of Industries and Commerce, Jail (Home) and Welfare of OBCs, Govt. of Tripura, Santana Chakma; Member of Parliament, Vadodara, Ranjanben Dhananjay Bhatt; Deputy Speaker, Legislative Assembly Tripura, Ram Prasad Paul; and Mayor, Vadodara Municipal Corporation, Pinkyben Nirajbhai Soni.

In his address, Dharmendra Pradhan underscored the significance of inaugurating these facilities on the auspicious occasion of Sarojini Naidu’s birth anniversary, also recognized as National Women’s Day.

He emphasized that these initiatives represent symbols of women empowerment in two crucial regions of eastern and western India. Furthermore, he highlighted their role in illuminating the path for women, equipping them with essential skills and attitudes, in alignment with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for women-led development.

Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, in his speech, lauded the Directorate of Skill Development’s efforts in equipping thousands of individuals with valuable skills, emphasizing the government’s dedication to tangible actions aimed at fostering self-reliance among women.

He stressed the importance of economic independence for women and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing the necessary tools for securing their financial futures.

The National Skill Training Institute (Women) in Agartala, built over 4.12 acres with a total investment of Rs. 17 crores, serves as a beacon of progress and commitment. Offering vocational training to female trainees from Tripura and the Northeast region, the institute focuses on trades with high employability and provides need-based training for both wage and self-employment.

The newly inaugurated girls’ hostel in Vadodara, with an approximate cost of Rs. 6 crore, accommodates 80 trainees and promotes holistic development through facilities such as a gymnasium and open spaces for sports activities.
