New Delhi, 1st Jan. On Monday morning, Delhi witnessed a warmer start to the New Year with a minimum temperature of 10.1 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees higher than the average for this season.
The visibility at Delhi’s main weather station, Safdarjung, was 700 meters, while at Palam it was 1,200 meters, according to the India Meteorological Department.
Due to fog, 21 trains heading to Delhi were delayed by one to five hours, as reported by the Indian Railways.
At 8:30 am, the relative humidity in the city was 88 percent.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was measured at 356, falling under the ‘very poor’ category at 9 am.
The AQI scale categorizes values between zero and 50 as ‘good’, 51 to 100 as ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 as ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 as ‘poor’, 301 to 400 as ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 as ‘severe’.
