New Delhi, 3rd Dec. Delhi residents experienced a marginal improvement in air quality on Tuesday, as the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 274, categorized as ‘poor.’ This marks the third consecutive day of improved conditions, providing some respite after a month of persistently toxic air in November.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI was recorded at 274 at 9 am, slightly better than Monday’s 24-hour AQI of 280. Out of Delhi’s 37 monitoring stations, eight registered air quality in the ‘very poor’ range (300-400), including Bawana, Jahangirpuri, and RK Puram, while others remained in the ‘poor’ category (200-300).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a minimum temperature of 10.5°C, slightly above the season’s average, with a maximum temperature forecasted at 27°C. Humidity levels were high at 95% at 8:30 am, and shallow fog was predicted for the day.
The AQI categories classify air as ‘good’ (0-50), ‘satisfactory’ (51-100), ‘moderate’ (101-200), ‘poor’ (201-300), ‘very poor’ (301-400), and ‘severe’ (401-500). The improvement comes as a slight relief for Delhiites navigating persistent air pollution challenges.
