Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Gets Seventh ED Summons in Delhi Liquor Policy Probe

New Delhi, 22nd Feb.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been issued a seventh summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi liquor excise policy case, officials informed NDTV today. Kejriwal is scheduled to appear before the probe agency on February 26 for questioning.

The Chief Minister skipped the ED’s sixth summons on Monday, with his party, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), labeling the summons as “illegal” and stating that the matter is now sub judice.

Kejriwal has previously ignored summons on February 2, January 31, January 19, December 21, and November 2, citing prior commitments. While expressing willingness to cooperate with the probe agency, he has questioned the timing and urgency of the summons.

The AAP has criticized the ED’s actions as “politically motivated” and accused the BJP of attempting to destabilize the Delhi government by targeting Kejriwal. The ED had sought court intervention earlier this month after the Chief Minister missed multiple summons related to the case.

The investigation pertains to allegations of money laundering linked to the Delhi liquor excise policy, with claims that the revamped alcohol sales policy under the AAP government facilitated kickbacks from cartels, purportedly used to fund election expenses in various states, including Goa.

Although Kejriwal is not named as an accused, two senior AAP leaders, including former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, have faced arrests in connection with the case.
