New Delhi, 13th Nov: The investigation into the Red Fort blast has revealed a sinister plan by a Jaish-e-Mohammed-linked terror module to carry out serial blasts across Delhi and NCR on December 6, coinciding with the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition.

According to top intelligence officials, the suspects — including doctors working at private institutions — confessed that the attacks were aimed at “avenging the Babri demolition” and had been planned in five phases.

The terror plan included the formation of the module, procurement of explosives from Nuh and Gurugram, manufacturing of chemical-based IEDs, and reconnaissance of crowded locations before coordinated bombings.

Originally intended for August, the operation was postponed to December 6 due to logistical delays. The probe has established that Dr Umar Mohammed, a Kashmiri faculty member at Al Falah University, was driving the car that exploded near the Red Fort, killing 13 and injuring over 20.

The explosion occurred after 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate was seized during raids in Faridabad and two associates — Dr Muzammil Sheikh and Dr Shaheen Saeed — were arrested. Investigators believe Umar panicked following the arrests and triggered the blast prematurely.

Officials describe the cell as a “highly educated terror network” blending professional backgrounds with extremist ideology. The group reportedly maintained links with Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, using encrypted apps to coordinate operations.

Security agencies have intensified the probe, focusing on funding trails, cross-border links, and additional operatives. A senior officer said, “The seizure of explosives and arrests have likely prevented a major terror strike planned for December 6.”

Enhanced vigilance measures have been deployed across the capital and adjoining regions as investigators work to dismantle the remaining network.
