“Connect-Connect-Connect”:  IPS Pankaj Choudhary

(A heart saddened by the sudden and sad departure of excellent IPS colleagues like Vijay Kumar, Shiladitya Chetia)

On getting a prestigious platform like the Indian Police Service and during the wonderful training of 14 months at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Administrative Academy Mussoorie, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel National Police Academy and tour of India, a special attachment and affinity is felt with the fellow batchmates. This is felt when we, more than 125 officers of *62 RR IPS batch*, take training and join colleagues from India as well as *SAARC* countries like Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal and Maldiv and then leave for their respective countries, cadre states, Union Territory.

When I look at the memorable times and moments of the last 15 years, I find that there is less communication with many batchmates during training but after training, communication continues. In any official tour, batch mates posted at various places in the country are the first priority which is shared. The affection, love and support of the colleagues thrill and make one feel proud of the diversity of the Indian Police Service. Many colleagues do an excellent work in their field, hearing, knowing and reading about which makes one happy and it occupies the mind during the training days. The task that seems impossible is easily understood by the batch mate. The importance of this service increases further. Some colleagues are seen to mingle less during training because some have family and other responsibilities that dominate them. Some colleagues share their pain, help and fulfill their rights, while many colleagues are unable to share their pain due to their silence. There is also experience, knowledge and guidance. There are some colleagues who perform well in training, are doing good work in the field, but suddenly when some sad news comes, it hurts and one feels sorry that he could not help his colleague, could not understand his pain, could not take out time for him. Recently, excellent IPS officers like Vijay Kumar IPS *Top Cop* (Tamil Nadu) and Shiladitya Chetia IPS (Assam), who earned a good name instead of a name by doing good work in their states from Mussoorie to Hyderabad, but due to some direct and adverse stress of family and professional life, left all of us colleagues with a dilemma in the form of sorrow.

In this sad moment, all the colleagues are shocked and sad, but there is one message and everyone also takes care of each other. In this partnership, everyone has a purpose and goal in life, but this colleague will always remain in our hearts. The incident of a major loss of a great friend like Vijay happened just 3 months before the accident when we got connected to each other .Everyone should not let go of a part of a strong and determined officer like Shiladitya, it is a grave loss to the family, IPS family, and even the state and the country. It comes to mind that all the colleagues should keep meeting and connecting, keep sharing their joys and sorrows, we all lead the state and the country, we are the inspiration and hope of the people. If we break down, then the hope of the poor, the oppressed and the mirage also breaks. We have to join together, everyone’s life is determined, the more we join together the better we will be able to do and there are many colleagues who will help them in slight depression.

I really feel most people get distanced from their loved ones, relatives and friends because they are lost in their work and professional life. As we are mostly seniors, we have fewer ‘friends’. We never end our needs over our weaknesses or emotional issues. Connect, connect, connect. We are humans just like everyone else. Talk to each other and accept that you don’t feel good when you don’t talk to each other. Salute to Shiladitya bhai 🙏🏻 .Jai Hind Jai Bharat
