Bhopal, 12th Feb: Political tensions have escalated in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the Assembly’s budget session, with state Congress chief Jitu Patwari writing to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav demanding the dismissal of three cabinet ministers.

In his letter, Patwari alleged that democratic values and ethical standards were being ignored and questioned the government’s decision to retain ministers facing serious allegations. He said allowing them to continue in office raised concerns about the government’s “morality, sensitivity, and accountability.”

Patwari also targeted the upcoming Governor’s address, claiming it would present what he described as “statistical ostentation” instead of reflecting the state’s real challenges. He alleged that while the government may showcase achievements, Madhya Pradesh is facing an economic crisis and rising debt.

The Congress leader named three ministers in his letter. He cited allegations against Vijay Shah, accusing him of insulting the armed forces, and demanded moral accountability. He also raised the issue of children allegedly dying after consuming toxic syrup in Chhindwara during Rajendra Shukla’s tenure, questioning administrative oversight. Patwari further accused Kailash Vijayvargiya of failing to ensure clean drinking water in his constituency, linking it to concerns over public health and infrastructure.

He urged the Chief Minister to remove the ministers before the Governor’s address, saying failure to act would signal that the government was overlooking the allegations.

The BJP rejected the demand, calling it politically motivated. Party spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi said Patwari was trying to divert attention from internal issues within the Congress.

“Jitu Patwari wants to eliminate Umang Singhar. Whenever an Assembly session approaches, he makes such statements. He is not concerned about the public,” Chaturvedi said.

He added that the Congress should focus on resolving its internal leadership disputes instead of targeting the government. The BJP maintained that action had been taken wherever necessary and described the allegations as repetitive and timed ahead of the Assembly session.

The budget session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly is scheduled to begin on February 16, setting the stage for a politically charged debate on governance and accountability.
