Shimla, 21st Oct. The Congress Party announced the second list of 17 candidates for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections on Thursday.
Thakur Singh Bharmouri of Bharmour-SC, Harish Janartha of Shimla, and Devendra Kumar Bhutto of Kutlehar are among the candidates. Bharmouri had lost his seat in the previous election. Surjit Bharmouri, leader of the Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress, wanted the party ticket from Bharmour.
On Tuesday, the Congress released its first list of 46 candidates for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.
On the list were prominent names such as Dalhousie’s Asha Kumari, Shimla Rural’s Vikramaditya Singh, and Solan’s Dhaniram Shandil.
Vikramaditya Singh is a sitting MLA and the son of former Chief Minister Late Virbhadra Singh, while Asha Kumari is an ex-state minister. Other notable names included Mukesh Agnihotri and Ram Lal Thakur.
For the first time in decades, the Congress will contest elections in Himachal Pradesh without party stalwart Virbhadra Singh, who died in July 2021 at the age of 87.
The 68-member Himachal Assembly will cast their votes on November 12; the results will be released on December 8.
