New Delhi, 12th July. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday invited all ‘like-minded’ top Opposition leaders to a meeting of the United Platform in Bengaluru on July 17-18. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on July 17. It will be followed by a dinner, and the meeting will begin around 11 a.m. on July 18, according to news agency ANI. The meeting arrives just three days before Parliament’s monsoon session begins.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he is waiting for the Grand Old Party to issue a public statement condemning the Centre’s Delhi services ordinance. Kejriwal had stated that the AAP’s participation in the united Opposition platform against the BJP will be contingent on the Congress’s announcement.

On July 3, KC Venugopal made the announcement for the second meeting. “After a hugely successful All-Opposition meeting in Patna, we will hold the next meeting in Bengaluru on 17 and 18 July 2023,” he tweeted. We are uncompromising in our determination to confront fascist and anti-democratic groups and propose a bold vision for moving the country forward.”

Last month, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar convened a meeting of opposition leaders from 15 parties in Patna. Leaders from several regional and national parties shared their opinions on the necessity of unity and flexibility in working together while purportedly putting political differences aside. Nitish Kumar intends to utilize the ‘one Opposition candidate per seat’ method that was used to destabilize the governments of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi in 1977 and 1989, respectively.
