Expressing gratitude towards the people of Karanpur, Koonar, whose late father Gurmeet Singh previously held the seat, stated that even though central ministers campaigned for his opponent, the voters rejected them and upheld democracy.

The voting for this seat took place on January 5.

Singh became a part of the Rajasthan ministry after the BJP won the assembly polls, securing 115 out of 199 seats.

According to the regulations, he has six months to get elected to the assembly after being appointed as a minister.

The election for the Karanpur seat was postponed due to the demise of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar. Subsequently, the Congress party nominated his son as the candidate for the seat.
