Thiruvananthapuram, 21st Oct. Leader of Opposition in Kerala V.D. Satheesan on Thursday said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has to come out of the circle of flatterers. Satheesan said, he is surrounded by a bunch of flatterers and everyone knows that Vijayan does not like criticism. Anyone who does this is called anti-national or who does not love the state.
Speaking to the media after Vijayan’s attack on Wednesday, Satheesan criticized the irresponsible approach by the Kerala government that claimed 42 lives in the state’s floods last week. Satheesan reiterated that the Vijayan government has proved to be a complete failure and even failed to act when the IMD had categorically issued a warning on October 12 itself.
It is most unfortunate that this is the fourth consecutive year that Kerala has witnessed an outbreak of rain and floods. Still, a state like Kerala doesn’t have a foolproof system for taking action ahead of time when disaster strikes. We are told that in some places the rescue and relief operations started a day after the tragedy.
Soon after the floods hit the state, particularly in Idukki, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts, Satheesan reprimanded Vijayan and said that the state disaster management authority has become the biggest disaster. This is happening and nothing constructive is happening, said Satisan, as people around are afraid to mentor in the right way for fear of anger. Vijayan has to come out of this group of flatterers.
