New Delhi, 6th March: The Congress party has announced six candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha biennial elections as the deadline for filing nominations for 37 seats across ten states ends today.

Senior party leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Vem Narender Reddy have been nominated from Telangana. From Chhattisgarh, the party has fielded Phulo Devi Netam, while Karamvir Singh Boudh will contest from Haryana. Anurag Sharma has been named as the party’s candidate from Himachal Pradesh and M Christopher Tilak from Tamil Nadu.

Polling for the Rajya Sabha seats will take place on March 16.

A total of 37 seats across ten states are falling vacant in this election cycle. Maharashtra will see seven seats going to polls, while six seats are due in Tamil Nadu.

Bihar and West Bengal will each have five seats contested, while four seats are falling vacant in Odisha. Assam will witness elections for three seats.

Two seats each in Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Haryana will also go to polls, along with one seat in Himachal Pradesh.
