Agra, 26th Feb. The Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP) joined forces during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Agra, marking a significant moment for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) coalition. Amidst the backdrop of recent seat-sharing agreements, the presence of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav alongside Rahul Gandhi served as a boost to the alliance’s momentum.
Following the sealing of seat-sharing deals between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for several Lok Sabha seats, including Delhi, Gujarat, Goa, and Haryana, the focus now shifts to key states like Punjab, West Bengal, and Maharashtra, where INDIA bloc constituents continue to negotiate.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh took to X to express the enthusiasm witnessed during the yatra, highlighting the massive crowds that gathered to welcome the leaders in Agra. He emphasized the unity of the INDIA coalition, describing it as “locked and loaded,” ready to dispel the injustices prevalent in society.
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra concluded its journey through Uttar Pradesh (UP) after an eight-day-long tour, covering significant districts and resonating with various sections of society. Ramesh credited the yatra with galvanizing the party organization in UP and instilling hope, particularly among the youth.
During the yatra, Rahul Gandhi’s focus on pertinent issues such as unemployment and farmer grievances garnered attention. His repeated emphasis on addressing the concerns of farmers and ensuring social justice through initiatives like legalizing Minimum Support Price (MSP) and conducting a socioeconomic caste census struck a chord with the masses.
The participation of Akhilesh Yadav in the Agra leg of the yatra further solidified the alliance’s stance against the current government’s policies, particularly regarding farmer welfare. Addressing the crowd, Yadav affirmed the strength of the farming community and expressed confidence in the INDIA coalition’s ability to bring about positive change in governance.
