Col. Ajay Kothiyal to contest Gangotri by-election in Uttarakhand: Aaam Admi Party

Uttarkashi/Dehradun, 2nd July. The Aam Admi Party(AAP) has declared Col Ajay Kothiyal who joined the party this year as its candidate for the By-polls from Gangotri assembly seat in Uttarakhand. BY declaring the name of Ajay Kothiyal the party has thrown a challenge to BJP and its CM Teerath Singh Rawat who is also considering to contest from the same seat in Uttarkashi district during the By-elections scheduled later. Teerath Rawat presently an MP from Pauri Garhwal as per the election commission is required to contest for the assembly seat so that he can continue as the chief minister of the state.
If the CM does that then Col. Ajay Kothiyal will challenge him in the elections on behalf of Aam Aadmi Party. BJP is yet to clear from where the CM will contest.
Aam Aadmi Party said, if Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat dares to contest the by-election seat of Gangotri Assembly, Col. Ajay Kothiyal will lock horns with the Chief Minister on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party. Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Naveen said that it is mandatory for the chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat’s to contest by September and said that if the chief minister has the guts, he should contest the by-election seat from Gangotri assembly. . If CM Tirath Singh Rawat contests from Gangotri seat which fell vacant after the death of BJP MLA Gopal Rawat it will be a litmus test for both and could make an impact on the future prospects of the both parties in the next assembly elections scheduled in 2022.
