New Delhi, 23rd March: The national capital witnessed cloudy skies on Monday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting generally overcast conditions along with the possibility of light rain, thunderstorms and lightning during the day.

According to IMD, brief weather activity is expected till the afternoon, while neighbouring regions such as Ghaziabad and Noida are likely to experience clear skies. Gurugram may see partly cloudy conditions.

Despite a slight increase in temperature on Sunday, the cooling effect from recent rainfall persists. The maximum temperature was recorded at 29.5°C, around 2°C below normal, while the minimum settled at 15.6°C, also below the seasonal average.

The IMD has indicated that cloudy conditions will continue through the week, with temperatures gradually rising. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 32–34°C by the weekend, while night temperatures may hover between 16°C and 18°C.

Delhi has already experienced two spells of light rain this month due to western disturbances, between March 15–16 and March 19–21.

From March 24 onwards, rainfall activity is likely to subside, though partly cloudy skies will persist. No major rainfall is expected during this period.

Meanwhile, air quality across the city remained in the “moderate” category, with key monitoring stations recording AQI levels ranging between 90 and 196.

The IMD also noted that the city experienced its coldest March day in six years on March 21, following heavy rainfall and dense cloud cover across the Delhi-NCR region.
