Palasamudram, 23rd Nov: Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday addressed civil services officer trainees at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics (NACIN) in Palasamudram, Andhra Pradesh, underscoring their pivotal role in advancing India’s vision of a Viksit Bharat @2047.
He recalled that the NACIN campus, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2024, has grown into a leading institution for capacity-building in India’s Customs and GST administration.
Marking the 150th birth anniversary year of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Vice-President highlighted Patel’s foundational role in shaping India’s civil services and nation-building. He also praised the Union Public Service Commission, set to complete 100 years in 2026, calling it a guardian of merit and integrity.
Calling GST a landmark tax reform, Radhakrishnan stressed the need to enforce laws effectively to curb tax evasion. “Laws exist for the betterment of society and the nation. Their enforcement rests with officials,” he said.
Encouraging the trainees to focus on collective progress, he said, “Institutions and nations are built through team excellence, not individual excellence.”
He urged officers to stay future-ready by adopting emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Blockchain to enhance transparency and governance. IGOT Karmayogi, he noted, offers continuous learning opportunities for civil servants.
Applauding the rigorous efforts required to join the civil services, the Vice-President reminded the probationers of the responsibility they now shoulder. “With great power comes great responsibility,” he said, urging them to use their positions to create meaningful social impact.
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh, Secretary to the Vice-President Amit Khare, NACIN Director-General Dr Subramanyam and senior officials were present during the programme.
