New Delhi, 24th Feb:
Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday conducted a virtual review meeting with Agriculture Ministers of several states, assessing progress under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) and Krishi Unnati schemes while approving large-scale MSP procurement for Rabi 2026.

Review of RKVY & Krishi Unnati

The meeting reviewed implementation across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Tripura, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana.

Chouhan emphasised that delays or partial utilisation dilute the impact of schemes and instructed states to ensure complete and timely expenditure of funds before the close of the financial year.

A total of 18 schemes are being implemented under RKVY and Krishi Unnati, aimed at strengthening agricultural infrastructure and productivity.

Pulses Self-Reliance by 2030-31

The Minister announced that under the ‘Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission’, the entire quantity of pigeon pea (arhar), urad and lentil offered by pre-registered farmers will be procured by central nodal agencies by 2030-31.

He said the move will reduce import dependence, boost domestic production and strengthen the pulses economy.

Calling for coordinated efforts between the Centre and states, Chouhan reiterated that effective implementation at the grassroots level is key to building a resilient and prosperous agricultural sector.
