New Delhi, 14th March. The chief ministers of Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi separately on Monday, just days after taking office.

Last week, Modi attended the oath-taking ceremony of the three chief ministers.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to a tweet from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

On Wednesday, the 70-year-old BJP leader was sworn in as the state’s chief minister.

In the recent Tripura assembly elections, the BJP won 32 seats, while its ally IPFT won one seat in the 60-member House. Saha was officially named chief minister for the first time in 2022, succeeding Biplab Kumar Deb.

Later that day, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma met with Modi, who was followed by his Nagaland counterpart Neiphiu Rio.

Sangma, the president of the National People’s Party (NPP), and Rio, the leader of the NDPP, were sworn in as chief ministers of Meghalaya and Nagaland, respectively, on Tuesday.

In the recent Meghalaya elections, the NPP emerged as the single-largest party with 26 seats. The UDP received 11 seats, while the BJP, the HSPDP, and the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) each received two. Sangma was also supported by two Independent members.

The ruling coalition decided to call itself the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance 2.0 because its partners are nearly identical to those of the previous coalition.

In Nagaland, the NDPP-BJP alliance won a clear majority, taking 37 of the 60 seats in the House.

Other political parties, including the NCP, NPP, Naga People’s Front, RPI (A), LJP (Ram Vilas), JD(U), and Independent MLAs, have backed the NDPP-BJP alliance for an Opposition-free government.

Brigadier B D Mishra (retd), the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, also met with PM Modi.
