Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami in Action Mode against Corruption: Directs Action against Officers Involved in Alleged Sugar Scam

Dehradun, 11th July. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has initiated action against corruption as soon as he takes over as chief minister of Uttarakhand state. The Dhami government has issued an order for action against chief engineer RK Seth, who is accused in the Sugar scam. An order issued by sugarcane secretary Chandresh Kumar has recommended action against RK Seth. The action has been taken on the directions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
It may be recalled that between 2016 and 2019, 500 quintals of sugar was stolen at Nadehi sugar mill in Jaspur. The audit probe found large scale irregularities like fake bills, sugar theft, tampering of records. The department has issued orders for action against RK Seth following a huge discrepancy found in the audit probe.

The probe into the sugar scam has also is being initiated against then sugarcane secretary Vinod Sharma. He has been accused of conniving with RK Seth. Investigations have found that Vinod Sharma not only gave him joining in same department but also promoted Seth a year later despite RK Seth resigning. The investigation also found that scam accused Seth was working in Nadehi sugar mill for 15 years out of 30 years of service. The letter issued by the department also recommended an inquiry into the nexus between RK Seth and the then sugarcane secretary Vinod Sharma.
