Chhindwara, 19th April.
During the polling day in the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh, the city’s mayor Vikram Ahake, who had recently joined the BJP, encouraged people to vote for Congress candidate Nakul Nath.

In a video message shared on social media, Ahake expressed feeling suffocated after joining a political party and believed he was not aligning with someone who had worked for the development of Chhindwara.

Ahake praised Nakul Nath for his dedication to improving the constituency, especially in education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

He urged voters to support Nakul Nath and his father Kamal Nath, stating that they had done a lot for him and he wanted to stand by them despite potential future political opportunities.

The BJP has nominated Vivek Bunty Sahu to compete against Nakul Nath, with several senior party leaders campaigning for him in the constituency.

Chhindwara is one of the six Lok Sabha seats where voting is taking place in the first phase of the parliamentary elections.

The Chhindwara mayor had joined the BJP on April 1 in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and state party president Vishnu Dutt Sharma in the state capital.

Out of the 29 Lok Sabha seats in MP, Chhindwara was the only constituency that the BJP lost in 2019, with former MP chief minister Kamal Nath winning from this seat nine times.
